WBC - Membership
This section provides information about membership of Woodbridge Bowls Club. WBC is a friendly club and all players are encouraged to take part in club competitions and to participate in league matches.
Membership:
There are 2 categories of membership – Full Playing Member and Social Member. There are presently 61 full members and 20 social members (excluding Bridge Section). Membership fees are:
£55 Full membership
£15 Social membership
Full members do not pay rink fees and may play at any time subject to match schedules and green maintenance work. Social members may play on payment of a rink fee.
New members may play an introductory 1 month before the membership fee is payable.
League Membership:
WBC presently have teams in the following leagues:
BE Mixed Triples - played Monday evenings
Woodbridge League - 2 wood mixed triples, played Tuesday evenings
Samford League - mixed triples, played Wednesday afternoons
EBF Ipswich Triples - mixed, played Wednesday evenings
BE Mixed Rinks - played Friday evenings
Club Competitions:
WBC have a range of in house knock out competitions in a variety of formats (singles, pairs, BE/EBF, etc). There is an annual Triples Day, a Presidents Day Competition and informal drives.
Social Activities:
WBC is a friendly social club and extends a warm welcome to new members and visitors. There is a licensed bar. Social events include informal bowls games, Annual Presentation Lunch, Quiz Night, Ladies versus Gents followed by fish & chip supper.
There is an active Bridge Section which meets weekly throughout the year.
Visiting Teams:
WBC welcome a number of touring sides each season. We can generally put forward a team to provide competition. Please contact the secretary for details if your club would like to play at Woodbridge.
Other Playing Opportunities:
In addition to the competitions and leagues there are informal roll ups on each Tuesday and Thursday afternoons. New members and beginners are particularly welcome to join in on these days.
There is a monthly Club Drive usually on a Sunday afternoon for coaching, match practice, and informal roll ups.
